JOHNNY CASH AMERICAN RECORDINGS

This is a SEALED 2014 copy of Johnny Cash's 81st studio album, American Recordings (American Recordings - B0019195-01). This was the first installment of the series that Rick Rubin produced. By the early 90's, respect for Cash from the public hadn't changed much, but his record sales in the 70's and 80's were miserly. Rubin saw The Man in Black perform at Bob Dylan's 30th anniversary concert in '92 and felt that Cash was still a force of nature. This led to him offering the country legend a contract in which Cash had almost complete creative control. What was produced, is an ultra stripped down album featuring some of Cash's original songs, as well as covers of the works of Leonard Cohen, Nick Lowe, Tom Waits, Glenn Danzig, Jimmy Driftwood, Kris Kristofferson and Loudon Wainwright III. The release reinvigorated Cash's career, and was universally praised for its sincerity, intimate production, and visceral intensity.
