Did you know At Budokan (FE 35795) is Cheap Trick's best selling recording? The band was already recognized and successful in the Japanese market, but this live release was set to become a sensation back in the US as well. The critical acclaim of the record and the public's adoration paved the way for both Cheap Trick's future career, and other hard rock/alternative groups coming up behind them. Nowadays, some master puppeteer (presumably living in a dark cave) with a wheel of sonic fortune will pick what song to peddle to the masses on social media platforms that shoots the band (or rather, their one song) to stardom. In 1978/79, if you were good, and you liked playing, you just hoped to GOD people would notice and tell their friends to take notice too.
